Exciting news for Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah residents!
Etihad Rail and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) are teaming up for a new passenger train service connecting Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah in Al Dhafra.
They've signed a deal to connect Abu Dhabi city and Al Dhannah with a passenger train. The agreement was inked at ADNOC Headquarters by Shadi Malak, Etihad Rail's CEO, and Saif Al Falahi, ADNOC's EVP for Group Business Support & Special Tasks. Notable figures present included Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, and Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, ADNOC's Managing Director and Group CEO.
Al Dhannah, about 250 kilometers west of Abu Dhabi, is in for a positive change. The town, where Adnoc's industrial staff stay, will benefit from this collaboration.
The aim is to make travel easier for Adnoc employees going between the capital city and Al Dhannah.
Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology at Adnoc, highlighted the company's dedication to responsible transportation and infrastructure development, targeting “Net Zero by 2045”.
This partnership might lead to more collaborations like it in the future.
Etihad Rail is making passenger travel better. They recently got a Dh1.99-billion green loan from First Abu Dhabi Bank and a Dh1.2 billion deal with Spain’s CAF company for passenger trains.
The rail started with freight in 2016 but is now adding passenger services. They want to connect 11 cities and go super fast at 200kmph. Expected a speedy travel from Abu Dhabi to Dubai in 50 minutes and from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah in just 100 minutes. By 2030, they hope to help 36.5 million people travel each year.
