A wonderful cooperation was established in the heart of Dubai with the goal of significantly improving the lives of women. Together, Awqaf Dubai, Arab Women Authority, and National Bonds have created a financial program known as "Women Sukuk." This project is an innovative approach to promote breast cancer treatment and awareness while promoting financial sustainability; it is not simply about making money.
Who's involved?
Awqaf Dubai: They manage endowments, basically like good deeds that keep giving forever.
Arab Women Authority: They champion women's empowerment, especially in health.
National Bonds: They help people invest their money and grow it safely.
"Women Sukuk" is a big deal because it lets you invest with National Bonds, just like usual. But here's the twist: the profits go towards fighting breast cancer, helping women in Dubai get better treatment. Why is this important? Because breast cancer is a serious problem in the UAE, affecting lots of women. "Women Sukuk" raises money for awareness and treatment programs, giving everyone a chance to help out, even with small investments.
Let's go back a little to 2022, when Dubai's Crown Prince, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, introduced the Sukuk Al Waqf project. With the help of this special endowment, individuals can fund National Bonds and designate the anticipated returns to a charity of their choice. In the present day, "Women Sukuk" has emerged as an important part of Sukuk Al Waqf, showcasing Islamic finance's dedication to humanitarian concerns.
The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation's deputy secretary-general, Khaled Al Thani, stated that
“Through the ‘Women Sukuk’ initiative, we seek to provide sustainable financial returns by creating quality initiatives aimed at raising breast cancer awareness and contributing to reducing the number of breast cancer cases among women.”
Mohammed Al-Dulaimi, Secretary-General of the Arab Women Authority, praised the collaboration as a strategic move to involve the community more. They aim to support initiatives, especially those related to breast cancer treatment, to empower women and recognize their crucial role in society's progress.
Mohammed Qasim Al Ali, CEO of National Bonds Group, spoke energetically about the company's dedication to using the retail sukuk plan to further social objectives. This promise is expressed in the "Women Sukuk," which connects monetary contributions to beneficial social effects. It is hoped that this program would significantly advance community awareness and treatment of breast cancer.
Women Sukuk's smooth incorporation into the Sukuk Al Waqf ecology is special. Stakeholders will have real-time access to information about the project's development and results via its website, guaranteeing accessibility and transparency. This ground-breaking partnership was signed by Rehab Lootah from National Bonds, Dr. Lina Abu Baker from Arab Women Authority, and Zainab Juma Al Tamimi from the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy.
'Women Sukuk' is, in basic terms, more than just a financial project—it's a ray of hope, resiliency, and empowerment for women fighting breast cancer. It's a tale of cooperation, dedication, and creativity that opens doors for women in the UAE and elsewhere to have healthier and more powerful futures.
