Dubai Metro Blue Line Project 2029 - A Boost for Dubai’s Transportation System
By Admin - Jan 12, 2024
The Dubai Metro Blue Line Project will introduce an important upgrade to the city-state's well-known transit network. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is leading this project, and it's the sixth big plan to make the city's train network even better.
Important Notices:
By adding 14 more metro stations, the Dubai Metro Blue Line, which is 30 kilometers long, links important places all over Dubai. His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum led the groundbreaking event. This shows Dubai's commitment to sustainable development and makes the city a great place to live.
“We're looking at a substantial potential decrease in road traffic,” said Thomas Edelmann, founder of Road Safety UAE.
He explained that this change would contribute to a "more relaxed driving environment" in the city. According to Mr. Edelmann, drivers would no longer be competing against heavy traffic or racing against time, which would likely put them in better moods.
The connection is then made to the broader impact:
When drivers are more at ease behind the wheel, they tend to have safer driving habits and are less likely to perform dangerous actions. This shift in behavior may result in a decrease in traffic-related crashes, not only lowering the frequency of incidents but also reducing their potential severity.
Major Highlights of the Project:
Nine Key Areas and New Stations:
- The Blue Line covers nine areas, providing direct access to Dubai International Airport.
- The route includes stations at Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1 and 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Dubai Festival City.
- Travel time between these areas is estimated to be between 10 to 25 minutes, enhancing accessibility.
Fifth Strategic Project:
- The Blue Line joins prestigious projects like Dubai Metro Route 2020, Dubai Tram, and the existing Dubai Metro Green and Red Lines.
- The project adds 30 kilometers to the Dubai railway network, bringing the total to 131 kilometers.
- The fleet of trains increases to 168, with 157 for Dubai Metro and 11 for Dubai Tram.
Iconic Station at Dubai Creek Harbour:
- The Blue Line project includes an iconic station at Dubai Creek Harbour designed by Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill.
- The station is set to be the largest underground interchange station, accommodating up to 350,000 passengers daily.
Catering to 50,000 Students:
- Strategically covering densely populated areas, the project aims to serve over 50,000 university students by 2029.
Routes and Connectivity:
- The project comprises two main routes, linking Al Jaddaf to International City and Al Rashidiya to Dubai International City.
- The routes cover areas like Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Ras Al Khor, Mirdif, Al Warqaa, and more.
Benefits of the Blue Line Project:
- The project addresses traffic congestion, with a projected 20% reduction in traffic ratios in Metro-operating areas.
- Properties near Metro stations are expected to witness a 25% increase in value, boosting the real estate sector.
As Dubai continues its focus on long-term development, the Dubai Metro Blue Line Project serves as an example of the city's commitment to efficient, eco-friendly, and convenient transit for its citizens and visitors alike.
