Date Discounts up to 40% - Save Big Before Ramadan

By Admin - Mar 12, 2024

As the holy month of Ramadan has started, a nice surprise waits in the busy markets of the UAE. Dates, the beloved fasting companions, are currently gracing the stalls with a huge discount of around 40 %.

Majdool dates from Palestine, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia are now only Dh20 per kilogram, down from Dh30. If you take a stroll through the market, you'll find Rutab, usually priced at Dh60 for 3 kilograms, now selling for a reduced Dh45.

And Ajwa dates are now Dh35 per kilogram, down from Dh45. And for those smart shoppers on a budget, Zaidi dates from Iran are the heroes, priced at just Dh5. That's a sweet deal, isn't it?

The mastermind behind stall 130 at the Waterfront Market, Mohammed Raees, shares the details of this charming tale.

Raees said:

"Currently, the demand for Majdool dates is significantly lower. We are selling over 100 kilograms of dates daily, and we anticipate this to rise to over 500 kilograms a day next week. All the date vendors at the market are selling these energy-packed fruits for a discount, and many residents are taking good advantage of it."

Waterfront Market vendor Anzil S gives fascinating views of what's to come.

He said:

"We have over 30 varieties of dates currently, and in the next week, we expect more varieties from various other parts of the world. In the coming weeks, as demand increases, residents can expect a rise of 20 per cent (in price)."

During Ramadan, dates are a key part of breaking the fast. As the sun bids farewell, Muslims across the globe break their fast with the age-old tradition of consuming dates and water, following in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). These golden bites not only satisfy the sweet tooth but also provide a quick energy boost after fasting all day. Packed with nutrition, dates help replenish blood sugar levels, making them essential during Ramadan.

So, for the residents of the UAE, this is a timely opportunity to fill their baskets with savings for the blessed month of Ramadan.

Ramadan Kareem to all!
